Important Information on the Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment and Batteries

Protecting the environment and conserving natural resources are important to us. Electrical and electronic equipment contains valuable, recyclable raw materials, but also hazardous substances that must not be released into the environment. Below, we provide information on proper disposal and our take-back service for waste equipment.

Meaning of the Crossed-Out Wheeled Bin Symbol

The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol affixed to the equipment indicates that the respective electrical or electronic equipment must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste (household/residual waste) at the end of its service life. As the end user, you are legally required to ensure that waste equipment is collected separately from unsorted municipal waste. Disposal via the residual waste bin or the yellow bin is not permitted.

Disposal Options at Cybex

As a distributor of electrical and electronic equipment, Cybex is legally required to take back waste equipment in household quantities free of charge. The following conditions apply depending on the size of the device:

When purchasing a new electrical device of the same type (1:1 take-back):

We will take back one waste device with substantially the same functions free of charge. When the new device is delivered to your household, the comparable waste device may be handed over there for collection free of charge.

Please get in touch with our Customer Service to get more information about this.

For small electrical devices (< 25 cm edge length):

You may return these to us free of charge regardless of whether you purchase a new device (0:1 take-back, maximum of 3 waste devices per type of device).

Please get in touch with our Customer Service to get more information about this as well.

Additional Disposal Options

Alternatively, you may also dispose of defective or end-of-life devices free of charge at municipal collection points (recycling centers) operated by public waste management authorities. A directory of all collection and take-back points is available here:

Devices that are still functional do not have to end up in the trash. They can also be put to good use by being donated to charitable organizations.

Important Information Before Returning Waste Equipment

Before handing over your waste device, please be sure to observe the following points:

Data protection:

Each end user is responsible for deleting personal data from the returned waste equipment. Please permanently delete all personal data from the device before returning it.

Batteries and rechargeable batteries:

Before handing over the devices, remove all batteries and rechargeable batteries from them, insofar as this can be done without destroying the devices, and dispose of them separately through the appropriate battery disposal process.

Safety notice regarding lithium batteries:

Many modern devices contain lithium rechargeable batteries. If damaged or handled improperly, they pose an increased fire and safety risk. Before disposal, please completely cover the exposed contacts of batteries and rechargeable batteries with adhesive tape to prevent short circuits. Even batteries that appear to be empty contain residual energy, which can cause dangerous heating or ignition in the event of a short circuit.

Lamps (light sources) in devices:

Remove the lamps/light sources from the devices, insofar as this can be done without destroying the devices and where present, and dispose of them properly in an environmentally sound manner.
