Ergonomic Lie-flat from Day One
Individual positioning – full lie-flat to upright

Healthy posture for the first 2 years. Outside the car, the Cloud S has an ergonomic full lie-flat position for strolling or carrying. Mounted on the Base S in the car, it provides a semi-reclined position, and a more upright position than previous models in the Cloud series. When reclining, the backrest and leg rest flatten simultaneously, spreading weight over a large surface. This reduces organ compression and helps prevent the head tipping forward.

Made to Grow up to 2 Years
Cybex GrowTech with width adjustment

14 headrest positions, a simultaneously adjusting harness, and removable growing pads ensure a perfect fit at every growth stage. The seat shell is designed to support a hip-healthy M-position, along with a newborn inlay with integrated head support.

Base S

Recommended

The Cloud S clicks on and off the Base S. This is installed using a load leg and ISOFIX. The Base S ensures safety and stability, and it can also be used with the Sirona S and Anoris S Airbag. Look for the i-Size logo in your vehicle to check compatibility. If there is no i-Size logo but your car has ISOFIX, please check our Car Compatibility tool.

Car Belt

If your car doesn't have ISOFIX, you can also install the infant car seat without a base, using the vehicle seat belt. Fasten the belt around the infant car seat to hold it in place. It is necessary to do this each time you take the seat in or out of the vehicle.

Before purchase

How do I know if my car seat is suitable for an aircraft?

You can determine if your car seat is aircraft approved if it has the TÜV Rheinland seal with the reference “For Use in Aircraft”. Car seats with this seal are specifically tested for safety and use with a two-point harness system, as found in an aircraft. Please note, that not every airline recognizes this seal as valid, therefore it is essential to refer to your airline’s regulations to confirm whether you can use your seat, even if the seat has the seal of approval.

Will the car seat fit in my vehicle?

It is important to check whether the car seat is compatible with your vehicle before you purchase it. The car seat is approved for use in i-Size compatible vehicle seating positions as indicated by vehicle manufacturers in their vehicle User Guides. If your vehicle does not have an i-Size seating position, please check the Car Compatibility List. To access the Car Compatibility List, follow the relevant weblink in the Quick Start Guide, printed on the packaging box or find it on the product page of the CYBEX website. If vehicle is not listed, please contact our customer service for further assistance.

How do car seats receive a TÜV Rheinland approval for use on airplanes?

In partnership with the Federal Ministry of Transport, Aviation Federal Office and airline companies, TÜV Rheinland developed the “Qualification Process for Restraint Systems in Aircrafts”, taking into consideration the different aspects of aviation companies. Car seats that pass this process receive the “For Use in Aircraft” seal. Additional information can be found on the TÜV Rheinland website.

General

Is it ok to keep using a car seat after an accident?

We at CYBEX strongly recommend that you replace a car seat after any kind of accident. This is because tiny hairline cracks, which may not be visible to the naked eye, can appear in the plastic parts of a car seat after an accident. These cracks can pose an increased risk to safety.

My car seat is faulty, how can I get it repaired?

Please refer to the retailer where you bought your CYBEX car seat. They will deal with the matter on your behalf.

Where can I get replacement parts for my product?

You can order replacement parts from a specialist retailer near you. To find a store near you, simply go to the Store Locator on the CYBEX Website.

When should I remove the newborn inlay?

The newborn inlay has to be removed when your infant reaches a height of 61 cm (corresponding to approximately 3 months). This ensures that your growing baby has enough space in the car seat.

How do I correctly secure my child in the seat?

Please observe the instructions in the User Guide. Adjust the child car seat to the size of your child and make sure that he or she is properly strapped in to ensure maximum safety.

How can I clean my car seat?

Car seats can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner or damp cloth. Sand or other dirt beneath the cover can also be removed in this way. To clean the plastic parts of the car seat wipe them with a cloth using a mild detergent and warm water. (Warning: Please do not use chemical detergents or bleaching agents under any circumstances.) Please note that a car seat should never be dismantled for cleaning. Please always refer to your car seat’s User Guide when carrying out care and maintenance on your car seat. Generally the seat covers are machine washable at a maximum temperature of 30˚C on a delicate cycle. If you wash them at a higher temperature, the cover fabric might lose its color or shrink. Please wash the cover separately and never dry it by machine or in direct sunlight. (Warning: Only the cover of the car seat can be machine washed. The car seat itself is not machine washable.) Should you wish to clean a car seat more thoroughly than recommended above, you will have to have it cleaned professionally. Please ask the retailer who sold you the car seat to refer you to a professional service.

Can I wash the newborn inlay and car seat cover in the washing machine?

Yes, both are washable. We recommend using a delicate wash cycle and a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. Detailed instructions can be found in the User Guide.

Can I also use the infant car seat in a car without ISOFIX anchorage points?

When this infant car seat is used in conjunction with a base, it can only be installed either in i-Size approved vehicles or in vehicles with ISOFIX anchorage points. If you are installing the car seat with the vehicle’s 3-point belt, ISOFIX anchorage points are not required. Before purchasing the seat, please refer to the Car compatibility list on our website to see whether or not the car seat is compatible with your vehicle.

How do I know when my child needs to change to the next car seat?

We generally advise against prematurely switching from an infant car seat (40-87 cm, max. 13 kg, from birth up to approx. 24 months) to the next seat. Even if your child’s feet protrude outside the infant car seat, or if your baby can already sit up, your child has not necessarily grown out of the seat. However, if your child's head is protruding above the top edge of the seat and your child already weighs over 13 kg, it is time to change the seat as it will no longer provide sufficient protection to the child’s vulnerable neck and head area.

Can I also use the infant car seat without the base?

Yes, your infant car seat can be installed in a car without using a base: In this instance, the car seat is installed using the vehicle belt. This is useful when travelling in a taxi or a second car. However, we recommend using the infant car seat in conjunction with the base as it makes the handling easier and helps ensure it is installed correctly. If installing the infant car seat on the front passenger seat, it is important to ensure that the front airbag has been deactivated.

Installation and Securing your child

When I install the car seat using the vehicle belt, my baby’s head nods forward onto his/her chest even though the seat appears to be positioned horizontally. How can I prevent this?

If your child’s head is nodding forwards while sat in the infant car seat belted with the vehicle belt, this may indicate that the infant car seat is not positioned at a horizontal level, even though the symbol on the seat seems to indicate that it is. One reason for this is that many vehicle seats have a relatively steep incline, especially in smaller vehicles. Therefore, when installing the infant car seat it is best to use the level of the road as a guide to the correct level of the car seat, rather than the angle of the vehicle seat. Another option is to install the car seat in a flatter recline position. If your baby’s head continues to nod forward even when the seat is aligned with the level of the road or you are using the base, then it is possible that the baby is not wearing suitable clothing. Please refer to the question: What kind of clothing should my child wear when seated in the car seat.

Can I install a rear-facing seat on the front passenger seat?

Rear-facing car seats must only be installed on the passenger seat if the front airbag has been deactivated. Placing your child on a passenger seat with an activated airbag poses an enormous risk of injury, and we at CYBEX strictly advise against this. For other types of car seats check the user manuals of both your car seat and your vehicle to find out if you should deactivate the airbag. Statistics show that the safest place for a car seat is on the rear seat behind the front passenger seat. Side airbags do not put your child’s safety at risk. If you have no choice other than to use the front passenger seat, please ensure that the seat is pushed back as far as possible and that the airbag is deactivated.

Can I use the car seat on laterally-facing vehicle seats?

It is not permitted to use the car seat on laterally-facing vehicle seats.

Can I use the car seat on rear-facing vehicle benches (e.g. in vans or minibuses)?

No. As you can only use this car seat rear-facing, it cannot be used on rear-facing vehicle benches. A rear-facing car seat on a rear-facing vehicle bench would be front-facing when installed.

Can I also use this infant car seat on a vehicle seat without an i-Size certification?

Yes, this infant car seat can be used on certain vehicle seats without an i-Size certification. It is possible for the infant car seat to be installed on forward-facing vehicle seats equipped with a 3-point automatic belt system in accordance with UN Standard R16. If your vehicle does not have an i-Size seating position, please check the car compatibilty on our website to find out whether installation with a 3-point belt is possible.

What should I bear in mind when installing the car seat in my vehicle?

Before purchasing the car seat, it is important to check if it is approved to be used in your vehicle. In case you want to use the infant car seat with the corresponding i-Size Base, the vehicle should have an i-Size seating position that is compatible with your i-Size Base. If you have no i-Size seating position, please scan the dedicated QR-Code on your "Quick Start Guide" or use the specific weblink provided on the Packaging Box, to access the Car Compatibility Tool of your product. Cloud Series and Aton Series car seats can be used without Base on all vehicle seats which are equipped with an automatic 3-point vehicle belt. For proper protection of your child, it is essential to use and install the car seat according to the instructions given in the User Guide. It can be downloaded via the CYBEX Website.

Where should I install a car seat in my car?

Although it may be possible to install a CYBEX car seat on other seats in the vehicle, the safest place for a car seat is in the rear seat, behind the front passenger seat. We advise you to refer to the Car Compatibility Tool on the CYBEX Website. You can scan the dedicated QR-Code on your Quick Start Guide or use the specific weblink, provided on the Packaging Box, to access the Car Compatibility Tool for your product.

What should the handle position be when the car seat is used in the car?

For safety reasons, we recommend keeping the handle in the upright position when the car seat is used in the car. For older children above 76 cm, the handle can also be folded in the position behind the backrest and above the LSP when the child is sitting in the upright position. Please ensure that the handle is never in the position below the LSP while driving.

How can I adjust the seat to suit my child as they grow?

The headrest has 14 height positions. Adjust the headrest as your child grows so that the lower edge of the headrest has to be at shoulder height and the shoulder harness outlets are at shoulder level or slightly below. This ensures proper support for the head and harness. Use the newborn inlay for smaller babies and remove it once your child is taller than 60 cm. This provides an appropriate fit as your child grows. The seat also comes with two removable growing pads. We recommend keeping the pads in place while your child is under approximately 70 cm. From around 70 cm onwards, both pads can be removed if more space is needed. For instructions on how to remove the newborn inlay and growing pads, please refer to the user guide or our step-by-step tutorial.

Safe Travel

Can I use the car seat even when the side airbag is activated?

Yes, the side airbag can remain activated when using the car seat.

What should I consider before flying with an infant?

Before taking any flight with your child, please read the terms and conditions of the airline you are planning to travel with. This information can usually be found on the airline website, or you can call the airline to inquire.

When does a car seat expire?

As soon as a car seat is installed in a vehicle, it may be exposed to high temperatures and high levels of light intensity. As a result, even high-quality and extremely age-resistant plastics such as those used by CYBEX can display certain age-related alterations. To ensure the safety of your child, we strongly recommend that the seats are not used for longer than the prescribed usage periods. A car seat will be designed to keep your child safe for a specific period in their development, for example from birth to approximately 4 years old for a Sirona Series seat. Sometimes they can be used for longer, for example our products for babies and toddlers can also be used for a sibling. To find out the approximate lifespan of your CYBEX car seat, refer to the User Guide or contact our Customer Service.

Are both side-impact protectors (L.S.P.s) needed?

The Linear Side-impact Protection (L.S.P.) reduces the forces of a side-impact collision and thus also the risk of injury. For safety reasons, please ensure that the L.S.P. nearest the door is always installed or folded out.

Do I have to register my car seat with the airline before taking it on a flight?

Whether you can use a car seat on an aircraft depends on the airline. Before your trip, please check with your airline to ensure that you are allowed to use the car seat on your flight. In general, children under the age of two do not require their own seat on the aircraft and may travel on their parent’s lap while secured with a loop belt. If you choose to use a car seat on board, you need to book a separate seat for your child, even if they are under the age of two. The child must then be secured with an approved child restraint system. For safety reasons, we recommend using a car seat on board the aircraft. Please be aware that the above information refers to travel within the European Union. For worldwide travel outside the EU, please contact your airline for specific information about flying with your child.

Am I required to take my own car seat on the flight?

No, you do not have to take your own infant car seat onto the aircraft, but we highly recommend it as it is safer. In the EU you are allowed to fly with your child on a parent's lap, if the child is under the age of two. Your child should be secured with a loop belt during take-off, landing and when the “fasten your seat belt” sign lights up.

Usage

Can my child sit in a forward-facing position in the car seat?

No, according to the UN Standard R129 children have to travel in a rear-facing position until they are at least 15 months old. This is because your infant’s spine and neck muscles have not yet developed sufficiently to cope with the heavy strain of a front collision. If the child is travelling in a rear-facing position, the forces of an impact are distributed evenly over the large area of the car seat shell. The strain on the neck, head, and chest is significantly reduced, reducing the risk of injury when compared to a forward-facing car seat. While the minimum requirement for rear-facing travel is up until the child is 15 months old, given the current state of child restraint technology we recommend keeping your child rear-facing for as long as possible. To this end, this seat is designed to only be used in a rear facing position.

What kind of clothing should my child wear when seated in the car seat?

Thick clothing prevents the harness/vehicle belt or impact shield from lying tight against the body of the child. Only a correctly adjusted restraint system can offer maximum protection. For this reason, your child should wear everyday clothing. Thick clothing such as winter jackets and clothing with hoods (e.g. hoodies) as well as hats should be avoided where possible. Once your child has been positioned in the car seat, he/she can be covered with an extra blanket for warmth.

When will a child grow out of this infant car seat?

This infant car seat can be used from birth up until the child is approximately 24 months old (maximum body height 87 cm, maximum body weight 13 kg).

Do I need a newborn inlay for a car seat?

Yes, a newborn inlay is necessary to help very young and small babies lie in a safe and comfortable position in the car seat. These are specially designed to meet the anatomical requirements of newborn or very small babies. All CYBEX infant car seats include removable newborn inlays. Usually these can be removed when your child has reached a height of 61 cm, however always refer to the user guide provided with the product to ensure it is removed at the appropriate time.

When can I use the recline position?

The infant car seat can be used in a full lie-flat position when attached to the stroller. It can be used in a semi-recline position when connected to the base inside the car but should only be used in an upright position when secured by the vehicle’s seat belt.

Can the Cloud S be used with the Base S without the adapter?

No, the Cloud S can only be used with the Base S in combination with the Base S adapter. Once your child has outgrown the infant car seat, the adapter can be removed to use the follow-up seat. Simply rotate the adapter to the boarding position, then remove it by pressing the release button and simultaneously lifting the adapter. Please refer to the User guide for further guidance.
