What does it mean to be SG certified?
The CYBEX Coya carrier is SG certified. Safe Goods certification is the benchmark system for the quality, safety and reliability of products. It was introduced to Japan to ensure these factors were recognized across the globe as a standard of their quality. The Consumer Product Safety Association (CPSA) operates the Japanese SG Mark system. As part of our global quality standards, we are totally committed to ensure that our products comply with standards set in the Safe Goods (SG) certification scheme and others worldwide. They focus on the quality of the products overall, how safe they are, ease of use, how adequate displays are and the instruction manual.
What are the possible carry positions and when should I use them?
Build that special connection with your baby using the front inward carry position from birth until 3 years. Designed to give maximum support to their neck, this position keeps your baby closest of all. Once they are around 6 months old and can hold their head upright, the front outward carry position is perfect for around 20 minutes at a time to let them see the world face on. The back inward carry position has been the go-to position for centuries and can be used from 6 months to give your child a view over your shoulder. No matter which position you choose with the Coya carrier, your baby’s hips are kept in a hip-healthy M shape and the back panel’s fabric stretches to support the spine, mimicking its natural curved C position.
How does the carrier ergonomically support my baby?
Your Coya carrier’s back panel stretches to support your baby’s spine by imitating its natural, curved C-shape. It keeps your baby in a hip-healthy M position, keeping their knees up above their bottom and level with their hips. When using the front outward carry position, your baby’s knees should be at a 90° to ensure they are in the optimum ergonomic position.
How do I make sure the weight distribution is best for the caregiver?
Your baby’s head should be close enough to kiss without needing to stoop, with their hips in the hip-friendly M position and their spine in the C position. Specially designed padding helps redistribute the weight away from your neck, shoulders and back. Once you have decided which direction you want your shoulder straps to be (crossbody or parallel), you can customize them using the various support buckles to suit the body shape of the caregiver. A well-padded waistbelt supports your lower back and provides optimal lumbar support.
When can I start putting the baby in the carrier?
Once your baby grows to 50 cm and weighs 3.2 kg, you can begin your adventures with the Coya carrier. If you can see half their ear, then they are at the right height but ensure they are in the hip-healthy M position with their spine supported in the curved C position before you begin by positioning your child’s bottom correctly in the carrier.
Is the carrier designed for all body types?
Your comfort is paramount and the Coya carrier has been designed to ensure this. Having your baby in the correct position to provide the best weight distribution is the first step. The shoulder straps can be connected to either the front panel or the waist belt and you should try both to find the one which suits you best. The waistbelt and the shoulder straps can be tightened or loosened from the front or back as you walk to give more support when you need it.
How safe are the materials used in my carrier?
The safety of your children is at the front of everything we do and all materials used in CYBEX products undergo stringent testing and all meet the highest standards.
